Spring Allium

Ariel and I have never had a logo... until now! Presenting the Spring Allium, our family mark (or mon): an allium flower from our garden. The head has 205 (like our address) florets laid out in a Vogel spiral; each floret is one golden angle (about 137°) from the previous one, and is shaped like the entire flower.

The flower head is sized by the golden ratio: its diameter is 1/φ (about 0.618) of the ring’s inner diameter, so its outline encloses 1/φ² (about 0.382) of the area inside the ring. The empty band around it fills the remaining 1/φ, which makes the empty space exactly φ times the area of the flower.

The soundtrack of the animated versions use the first four notes of Ode to Joy, which C has played on every instrument available to her for years.

It comes in three versions - an image (above), and both a 2D and 3D animation which resolve to that image.

For context: From 2006 to 2011, I had, as my "family logo" with Sarah the Epicycleaf, a vaguely Irish knot themed (2,5) epicycloid:

I'm happy to have a beautiful new mark at last, even if it took 15 years!
