In 1995 I was sitting around a fire in Vermont with Simon’s Rock College people and I had my feet up on one of the rocks bounding the fire. I was wearing Polar Fleece socks. After a while, I realized that my toes were very cold, and my heel were very hot, and I glanced at my feet to see something truly horrifying… my socks had melted. Polar Fleece is made of recycled plastic. Around my heels were sad reddish-purple puddles of Liquid Sock.
